The Business Council for Sustainable Energy hosted a session at the Paris COP21 US Center titled Building the Global Clean Energy Economy. Some of the key takeaways were:

  • Recognizing how Policy for the EPA Clean Power Plan can be more effectively be driven throught Public/Private efforts.
  • Encouragement for interactions of technologies for whole solution approaches was recommended. An example would be Envelope First Energy Efficiency, optimized ECMs (Energy Conservation Measures) with Renewables for a path to net zero. These should encompass efforts from: utilities, smart technologies, and buildings.
  • Partnerships with the US EPA and Department of Energy are essential for success in this area and can help influence market Pull-Through in harmony with private sector solutions for reducing GHGs.
  • Ultimately, in order for Capital Investment to be implemented, market certainty through Legislated Government (Federal and States) polices will need to be a high consideration.
  • The last item of note was the concept of adaption to resilience in addition to mitigation of GHGs.
