The ongoing development of a new mall (High Street Mall) located in Abbotsford, BC took advantage of Kingspan Insulated Panels to speed up the building's delivery for some of the anchor tenants. The first phase to open was the Wal-Mart Super Centre at the end of January this year.
This large development has a project site 20 acres in size, and a total floor space of 600,000 sq ft over three levels.
Musson Cattell Mackey is the architect partnering with construction manager - Graham Construction. Flynn Canada was the successful contractor who worked with Kingspan for the supply and installation of our architectural Insulated Metal Panels, using the Optimo™ Smooth, Optimo™ Embossed and Micro Rib profiles. The vast majority of our product has been installed in a horizontal orientation with trim-less ends and fabricated corners also made from our insulated panels. The blend of these three insulated panel products installed in a horizontal orientation has added a high level of architectural flare to this brand new shopping centre.
With construction still ongoing on the upper levels, I will continue to follow the progress of this project as it nears completion and finally opens to the public which is currently slated for Winter 2013.
Needless to say, this project already looks absolutely fantastic, and I am truly impressed with the sharpness of the three different insulated metal panels, as well as the installation detail to date. The production team from Kingspan's Caledon, Ontario facility, and the entire project team at Flynn Canada should be proud of their hard work on this mall; an impressive project.
Construction on the upper levels is still in full swing and off limits to the general public, so given the limited access - the above photo gives you a sneak peak at what the final product will be. I am looking forward to walking around this mall and taking in the architectural detail of this fabulous project.
