Land O’Frost, Inc.'s Madisonville, KY location was the nation’s first building designed to fully integrate the 11 Principles of Sanitary Facility Design as defined by the American Meat Institute (AMI) Sanitary Facility Design Task Force. Exterior claddings that could promise extreme moisture and temperature control were crucial.

“Every discussion we had regarding the facility plans centered on sanitary design concepts,” says John Schook, manager of the food and beverage group for Carter & Burgess, which was one of the first architectural firms to join the sanitary facility design task force. “Our goals were simple: it should be dry, clean and cold.”
